When I meet couples I always encourage them to think of who (if anyone) they would like to include in their ceremony and then work backwards to find a way to involve them rather than thinking a ceremony has to have certain elements (eg. a bridal party or a reading) and then stress about trying to find someone to take on these roles.
Adam and Marcela did this perfectly.
Marcela couldn’t image having anyone else by her side when she got married than her brother Sam, and he did a wonderful job as her Man of Honour. It was obvious to all that Sam was truly honoured to be given the role and he happily fulfilled his duties holding Marcela’s bouquet and arranging her dress.
It was also very important to them that Marcela’s daughter Zoe was formally acknowledged as part of the ceremony and as part of Adam and Zoe’s marriage, along with their young son Xavier. Adam made vows to Zoe, promising that he would take care of her, her mum and her little brother and that he was someone she could always count on.
And to symbolise Zoe’s special place in the family, Adam and Marcela presented her with a necklace right after their own ring exchange.
