One thing I love about weddings is that they are a safe space where guys can cut the cool and show their emotional side (without judgment). On first meeting Matt I could tell he was a pretty blokey-bloke. But after speaking to Jaime and Matt about how they met and the journey of their relationship, I soon saw the softie underneath. Jaime obviously knew this softie well – she fell in love with him after all.
Jaime and Matt were married at The Retreat at Wisemans Ferry in a gorgeous ceremony that featured Matt’s daughters Abby and Bella. In the process of falling in love with Matt, Jaime fell in love with the girls too and she wanted this to be clear to them in the ceremony. She was not there to take their dad away, but rather to join them in their little family.
After Jaime and Matt exchanged their vows and rings, I asked the girls to step forward and Jaime read to them…
Abby and Bella, today I become your father’s wife, but I promise to be more than that to you. I will continue to be a friend that you can count on and a person that loves you very much. I promise to always be there for you, always care for you and love you until forever.
And to show you how much we love you, your dad and I have a special gift we would like to give each of you.
Jaime and Matt then presented the girls with a necklace each and placed them around their necks.
The girls then surprised Jaime with a reading of their own.
It was such a tender moment, and not a dry eye in the house!
